A new playground is coming! 🎉

We’re building a big, exciting playground where kids of all ages and abilities can play, explore, and have fun! It will be full of cool things to climb, swing and splash in.

The playground will also have special features from the past, like a real old steamroller and the old Cheltenham train station building that will give you a nice shady spot to rest and watch the fun.

🛝 Some of the awesome things planned:

  • A treehouse inspired by the Ewoks (like in Star Wars!)
  • Water play with mist to keep you cool
  • A climbing tower with a slide
  • A spinner
  • Two swing sets, including one for bigger kids
  • The old steamroller, all fixed up and ready to explore!

We want to make sure this playground is fun for everyone, so we’d love to hear what you think!

You can share your ideas via the activities below from 14 July to 10 August 2025, or chat to us at a pop-up session at the park on Saturday 19 July 9am to 10:30am and Saturday 26 July 10am to 11:30am.

We'll use your feedback to refine the design before we start building later this year.

We’re not building new toilets or car parks right now, but we’re thinking about them for the future.

Forget the redesign: I wont let my grandchild play here until Council enforces resp dog ownership. The amount of dog waste is disgusting!

The design is good but as others have said the heritage station building must to be included and a plaque would be very useful.

Not just a big novelty structure, but also congregational areas for children on the ground such as in Lincoln Square South, Hansen Reserve

Bayside seriously lacks an outdoor gym (nearest is Reg Marlow, K’ston) & beach volleyball court (nearest is Mordialloc, K’ston) for all ages
