Neighbourhood Character Review update – General Residential Zone

4 July 2022

Thank you to everyone who took part in our community consultation on defining character in growth areas.

At its 28 June 2022 meeting, Council considered the proposed approach to drafting planning scheme changes to support the preferred future character outcomes in moderate growth areas (General Residential Zones). Council adopted the following:

That Council:

  • Endorses the approach to be taken to preparing a planning scheme amendment relating to preferred character outcomes for Bayside's General Residential Zoned Moderate Growth Areas
  • Notes that the Manager of Urban Strategy will exercise the delegations of the position to prepare and submit a planning scheme amendment to the Minister for Planning, to improve preferred character controls in Moderate Residential Growth Areas
  • Writes to all submitters to advise them of Council's decision.

Planning scheme amendment documentation will now be finalised and submitted for authorisation to the Minister of Planning. Once authorised, Council will exhibit the planning scheme amendment. A 28-day exhibition period will enable public review of the proposed amendment and submissions.

Project subscribers will be notified of any exhibition period. Please select the blue +Subscribe button to receive updates.
