Council to hear from community on proposed temporary closure of Melrose Street

13 April 2023

Council will hear from 23 community members who requested to speak in support of their written submission on the proposed temporary closure of Melrose Street, Sandringham.

The Special Meeting of Council will be held at the Council Chambers in Brighton on 19 April 2023 and live-streamed on Council’s website. A list of submitters and order of speakers is detailed in the meeting agenda.

Participation in the meeting will be limited to Councillors, Council officers and the members of the public who made a written submission during the statutory consultation period and requested to be heard.

During the statutory phase of community engagement, which ran from 27 February to 28 March, 120 written submissions were received. This followed community engagement on new ideas for Sandringham Village in September-October 2022, which had 350 responses.

Following the Special Meeting, Council will consider all submissions received during the consultation period, as well as a report from the Head, Transport for Victoria, prior to deciding whether to approve the proposed temporary road closure at a future Council meeting. We will notify project subscribers via email when this meeting date is confirmed.
