On Wednesday 16 December at 6pm Council conducted a virtual Question and Answer presentation on the Bayside Netball Centre proposal via live video stream.

Adam McSwain, Director Environment, Recreation and Infrastructure, responded to questions that we had received from the community with the information we had available.

We have published the recorded video from the session below. Please note, due to technical issues the introduction to the video was not recorded, instead we have posted the text from the beginning of the session. The recording starts from question 1.

We will also publish the questions and answers we have received within the FAQ section shortly.

Live Q & A session

Introduction

Hello and welcome to the presentation for the Bayside Netball Centre proposal.

I’d like to a acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of this land, the Boon Wurrung people, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

The purpose of this session is to provide information in a transparent forum, accessible to as many interested community members as possible. This is not a session to provide further feedback. If you need any further clarification on any of the responses you hear this evening, please get in touch following this session.

The survey is available for comment via Have Your Say page, or you can request a hard copy version of the survey. You can also email your submissions through to project officer Sara Townsend. You can find Sara’s email on the main netball project page on Have Your Say.

Feedback closes midnight, Wednesday 23rd December.

This session will be recorded and posted to this webpage following the event.

I won’t be reading the questions out as written, instead we have drawn out the questions from the submissions we have received to make the best use of time. We have grouped the questions together where there are commonalities.

I will attempt to run through all the questions we have received however, questions that require further information or technical clarification will be published via the FAQ page on Have Your Say.

We have prioritised the responses based upon the number of questions we have received on the topic, we will publish all the questions and answers we have prepared to Have Your Say following the session.

Please note this session is not the only way we are trying to gather information. We encourage you to continuing asking questions throughout the duration of the project if you need any further information.

Overview

Council is proposing the joint development of sports facilities at Sandringham College in Holloway Road, Sandringham.

Our proposal follows in-principle support for Council to enter into a Development Agreement with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to fund new netball facilities at the campus.

This proposal includes delivering at a minimum three indoor sporting courts, nine outdoor sporting courts and an oval at the College.

If the proposal proceeds at the Holloway Road campus, this will allow a master planning process for the Wangara Road site to be completed that will create an additional six hectares of space for the community.

I will now run through the questions.

Question 1

Q: Why was this site chosen when it was not even one of the proposed sites for consideration when the old driving range was chosen?
