South Concourse works commence

20 August 2019

The next stage of the Beaumaris Concourse streetscape upgrade has commenced along the South Concourse.

Short term parking

Council has introduced temporary, short term car parking to create a high turnover and availability of car parking spaces for shoppers and visitors to the Concourse. We encourage traders and their staff to find all day parking in nearby residential streets. If you are concerned about safety, we suggest two staff members walk to their cars together at night or move their car closer to the business at the end of the day. We appreciate traders’ patience and understanding to ensure the economic viability of the shopping precinct. The all-day parking spaces in the Concourse will be reinstated at the conclusion of the works.

South Concourse works

These works involve removal of the old footpath bricks, install of new asphalt and street furniture. The proposed works schedule has these works being completed within one week, weather dependent. During this time there will be a loss of parking within the street, but only as long as the works are being conducted. Normal parking hours will resume once the works are completed. Additionally, shop fronts will need to close for an estimated 30-45 minutes to allow the asphalt to cool and become trafficable again. Bayside Council apologises for any inconvenience during this time.

Movement of safety barriers

It has been noted by the contractor that several of the safety barriers have been moved or adjusted during works. Council wishes to remind traders that these barriers are for the safety of yourselves and visitors to the shopping centre and ask for your assistance in maintaining these barriers

Please refer to the latest trader update uploaded to main project page for more information including an updated staging plan.
