Who we heard from

A digital ideas board online and a poster board at pop-up events provided the opportunity for community suggestions on how to improve the playground design.

Young people and families contributed to the (89 ) with 23% aged under 14.

We also received a high proportion of feedback online from participants aged 40–49, (31.8%) and people aged 25–39 were also well represented (18.2% of contributions).

Ways to make the playground more fun

Overall, ideas received from the community about how to make the space more fun prioritised shade, seating, social facilities, ball‑game opportunities for older children, and access to water.

We also received a high number of suggestions for larger‑scale infrastructure, such as basketball courts, tennis walls, fitness stations and soccer goals. These elements are outside the scope of this project due to the park’s size and its classification under the Open Space Strategy. This feedback provides a useful learning for future playground engagements.

What happens next

The playground design will be refined using feedback from the community – particularly from young local residents.

A Project Group, consisting of a cross-functional team of Council officers, evaluates and approves each final design against the objectives in the Playground Improvement Plan. Council will then tender for a playground builder.

Construction of this playground is expected to commence in June 2026.

The budget for the project is $141,000.00 excl GST.
