Latest information on Sandringham Streetscape upgrades

12 May 2020

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 24 March 2020, Councillors agreed to revise the plans prepared for the Sandringham streetscape upgrade.

Noting the feedback received during community consultation we will now move into the detailed design phase in the 2021/22 financial year and progress with an alternative design for upgrading the streetscape. Construction has been delayed and is anticipated to commence in the 2022/23 financial year.

The plans will include all of the key focal points within the village and will reduce the car parking loss from 10 to between zero and 2 spaces, as a result of some existing carparks dimensions requiring widening to comply with the relevant standards. The palm trees within the centre will be retained.

The upgrades will include:

New asphalt and exposed aggregate footpaths throughout the centre

Kerb and channel renewals

Planting new gardens beds and additional street trees

Updating the street furniture and installing a new water fountain.

We will undertake further consultation with traders and residents once these plans are ready for feedback.
