We want your ideas to design Highett's Youth Centre

Youth Services is moving from Peterson Reserve and getting a modern upgrade in Highett Common, on Graham Road.

We anticipate moving into our new home in 2028, alongside other community facilities, and we want your help to design the Youth Centre's interior look and feel. Think about 🎨 colours 🛋️ furniture ✨ textures 💡 creative vibes 🎧 chill spaces, and share your ideas!

The new Youth Centre will include modern, flexible and welcoming spaces designed specifically for young people — like an activity room with movable walls, a creative zone, recording/podcast studio, open kitchen and consulting rooms.

This is your chance to tell us what would make the new centre feel fun, welcoming and like a place you’d want to spend time in.

Consultation closes Sunday 3 May 2026.

Peterson Youth Centre is moving to Highett Common, where it will sit alongside other new community spaces like a library and health services.

The new Youth Centre will be on the ground floor in the new building at the corner of Lightwood Avenue and Graham Road— right next to the new library, Maternal & Child Health centre, meeting rooms and a café.

It’s super close to Highett shops and public transport which will help make getting there easier.

The rooms and layout are already set, but the style is open for your ideas.

We’ve got the main spaces for the new Youth Centre locked in:

  • a big activity room with operable walls
  • a kitchen for cooking programs
  • an art/creative zone with a sink
  • a podcast and recording studio
  • two consulting rooms

Now we want your help making them look awesome, feel comfortable and reflect the personality of local young people.
