What you told us

Thanks for your feedback. Community consultation has now closed but you can read the ideas we received for the community space in Hurlingham Park.

Between 25 July and 25 August 2024, we asked for ideas on what would be the best use for a multi-purpose community space in Council’s existing building at Hurlingham Park.

The space previously known as the Brighton Angler’s Club was also temporarily used by the Hurlingham Preschool and Brighton Playroom.

Community feedback received from this engagement will be used to assist Council in bringing a fresh purpose to the space, and to help create positive and connecting experiences for the local community.

Contributions were made via the ideas wall below, alongside email submissions to Council and 3 groups visited the space in person including the U3A Brighton Arts Society and the Southside Dog School. We also presented the project and sought feedback from Bayside's Healthy Ageing Reference Group (BHARG).

Nearly all participants were supportive of the concept to repurpose the Hurlingham Park building to benefit Brighton East residents. They believed that this facility could fill a gap in the area for a multipurpose community space for creative and cultural activities such as arts spaces, learning and wellbeing programs.
