Brighton East Streetscape works update

16 December 2019

Streetscape update

Council appreciates the cooperation from the community as we are in the final stages of works to enhance Brighton East shopping village. We have now installed the majority of new footpaths with the remaining plaza area near the pedestrian crossing to be completed once drainage works have been finalised. Further final works will involve soft landscaping, including planting new garden beds and additional street trees.

We expect to complete these works by February 2020.

During the Christmas break the unfinished areas of the project will be made safe by the contractor by securely covering the open excavations with backfill and asphalt, fencing materials on the service road and cleaning the project area. Works will recommence in early January 2020.

Drainage works delayed

We are currently experiencing delays for the works to connect the outfall drainage system along Nepean Hwy Service Lane. Site investigations did not identify the presence of an earth grid and some other existing underground service lines until construction was well underway. Remediation works are now required before the rest of the construction can proceed.

We anticipate full project completion in February 2020.

Your patience is appreciated

We apologise for the further inconvenience due to the extended time frame for construction and acknowledge the impact of the construction works on residents and traders and regret the delay. We thank you for your support and patience during these construction activities and encourage, for everyone’s safety, that you follow traffic and pedestrian controllers instructions and the associated signage in place.
