Final streetscape works to resume

6 April 2020

We are pleased to report that works to complete the remaining streetscape upgrades will recommence on Wednesday 15 April and be completed by June 2020, weather permitting. As we face constantly changing circumstances related to COVID-19, we are taking advantage of the least disruptive time for trade to deliver these essential upgrades. At the moment, there is no impact on the delivery of this construction program however we will keep you informed if this changes.

Works planned

Final streetscape works will involve soft landscaping, including planting new garden beds and additional street trees and completing the footpath and kerb upgrades. We anticipate there will be some noise and disturbance while works are underway however we will ensure that pedestrian access remains available throughout construction. The works for the outfall drainage system along Nepean Hwy Service Lane remain on hold while Council finds a suitable design solution to complete the final works. From 19 May there will be a temporary resurface to the road completed to ensure the area is safe for residents, the service lane will be closed except to local traffic for three days, weather permitting.

Car parking and traffic management

There will be some disruption to car parking during the kerb and asphalting works however parking will be maintained at all other times for visitors of essential services including the IGA and Pharmacy. Council’s contractor, Evergreen Civil Pty Ltd, is following the advice of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and Australian Department of Health and implementing new preventative measures to reduce any risk of spreading COVID-19. To enable us to deliver building and maintenance programs as planned please ensure a safe distance of 1.5 metres is kept between yourself and workers at all times. We thank you for your support and patience during these construction activities and encourage, for everyone’s safety, that you follow traffic and pedestrian controllers instructions and the associated signage in place.
