Dates for Delegated Committee of Council to hear submissions

12 April 2022

At its 15 March 2022 meeting, Council established a Delegated Committee consisting of all Councillors and set a meeting date for Tuesday 24 May 2022 at 5.00pm. This date has been changed to host the meeting over two nights on 15 and 16 June 2022.

It is expected that a large number of property owners with homes identified in the draft heritage study will request to speak on the matter, as well as other individuals and organisations with an interest in heritage. Holding the Delegated Committee hearings over two evenings will ensure all speakers can be heard.

Delegated Committee hearing dates

  • Wednesday 15 June 2022 commencing at 5.30pm to hear from any property owners affected by the draft Heritage Study.
  • Thursday 16 June 2022 commencing at 5.30pm to hear from other individuals or groups/organisations wishing to speak in more general terms about heritage.

About the hearings and draft Study

The Delegated Committee hearings on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 June 2022 will provide property owners and interested members of the community with the opportunity to address Council directly in response to the revised draft Study.

The revised draft Study is expected to be completed in early June 2022, following the closing date for receipt of submissions to the draft Study on 30 April 2022.

Property owners and key stakeholders will be notified when the revised version of the draft Study is published and available to view. This would be no later than 8 June when the agenda for the Delegated Committee meeting is published.

It is important to note that the Delegated Committee meeting is solely to hear submissions in relation to the draft Study. There will be no Councillor debate or decision made at this meeting.

At the 19 July 2022 Council meeting, Council will make a decision whether to:

  • Adopt the Study (with or without changes)
  • Commence a Planning Scheme Amendment process to apply the Heritage Overlay to the recommended places

To reach a decision, Councillors will consider all submissions, verbal presentations made at the Delegated Committee meetings, as well as the revised Study.

Please see below the revised timeline outlining the key dates for the Delegated Committee hearings, Council Meeting and Governance procedures.
