New dates proposed for draft Heritage Study hearings

1 April 2022

Council will consider new dates for the draft Post-War Modern Residential Heritage Study Delegated Committee hearings at its 5 April 2022 meeting.

A Draft Post-War Modern Residential Heritage Study has been compiled by independent specialists to identify and document places within Bayside which should be considered for heritage protection. We’re currently consulting with the owners of mid-century properties identified in the draft Study to ensure all information about their property is accurate and complete.

Property owners and relevant stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback on the Draft Heritage Study by 30 April 2022. Community submissions will be considered by heritage specialists and a revised Study published on 8 June 2022.

The proposed dates for Delegated Committee meetings to hear submissions on this matter are:

  • Wednesday 15 June 2022 at 5.30pm – Property owners directly affected by the draft Heritage Study
  • Thursday 16 June 2022 at 5.30pm – Individuals and groups/organisations wishing to speak in more general terms relating to heritage

The purpose of this meeting is to amend the date of the Delegated Committee Hearing to Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 June 2022 where submissions will be heard. Notification to all property owners of properties considered in the Study, interested parties and submitters will be provided following a Council decision on 5 April 2022.

It is expected that community members will be able to register to speak at these meetings from 8 June 2022. These meetings will be solely to hear submissions and there will be no Councillor debate or decision.

Council will then consider at its 19 July 2022 meeting whether to adopt the Study (with or without changes) and commence a Planning Scheme Amendment process to apply the Heritage Overlay to the recommended places.

More information is available in the 5 April meeting agenda.
