Deciduous trees totally unsuitable for our streets: golden elms riddled with borer, dangerous due to rotten limbs, leaves bank up in gutters around parked cars and block storm water drains- all costly to council / ratepayers. The canopy is too large and requires annual pruning to clear overhead power lines- another cost. To be successful and healthy these trees require lots of water.

Current trees have created many unforeseen problems.Where new trees are to be planted these should be evergreen giving summer shade and all year round contribution to air quality.Consideration should be given to large native shrubs such as some of our wonderful Banksias. These are great for local bird life and are very attractive.Thank you for the opportunity to give my opinion.Lewis D'Ambra
