BLACK ROCK - Bluff Road and Arranmore Avenue

How do you use this centre? How often do you go there? What do you like about this centre? It is proposed to define this centre as a Small Commercial Activity Centre (Mixed Use) to acknowledge and protect its role in providing office/business accommodation and specialist retail services. Height limits in this centre will stay the same, at 2 storeys. This centre is currently zoned Mixed Use which provides for a range of residential, commercial, industrial and other uses. It is proposed to change this to Commercial 1 Zone which allows retail, office, business, entertainment, community and residential use.

This centre should remain 'low key'' to retain the charm of the 'village atmosphere by the sea'. Any multi-storey developments would spoil this atmosphere. The extreme example of what not to do can be seen in Surfers Paradise. There were plans to upgrade the street-scape of this shopping precinct (Bluff Rd & Balcombe Rd) about 2 years ago. Why did that not proceed?

I agree with Piech - everything should be done to try and retain the "Village Atmosphere"
