Thank you to everyone who took part in our community consultation on the warm water pool and wellness centre proposals at Brighton Golf Course.

More than 1,370 community members shared their views in February – April 2022 about the proposal to build a public warm water pool and private wellness centre at Brighton Golf Course

What we heard

There was very strong support for both proposals, with high levels of expected use from a broad range of demographics.

• 80% overall support for warm water pool
• 70% overall support for the wellness centre proposal

While there was very strong support for the proposals, there were also concerns raised including the need for sufficient on-site car parking, local traffic congestion, user affordability and time allocations that satisfy the demands of various users.

Traffic, parking and amenity concerns were particularly prevalent among neighbouring residents to Brighton Golf Course, who have experienced significant impacts from the COVID-19 testing site which was located at the Golf Course car park during the pandemic.

Should the project continue to be supported by Council, the above concerns will form key considerations to be addressed and mitigated during design development.

Next steps

Council will consider community feedback on the public warm water pool and private wellness centre proposals at its meeting on 28 June 2022.

If the proposal(s) continue to be supported by Council, work will commence on the concept designs, management model and hours of use of the public warm water pool.

Following this, a second phase of community engagement would be expected to commence in October 2022.
