The North Point Café, as it is now known, was built in the 1930s and has been extended and altered over the years. It is in need of significant refurbishment and will most likely need to be demolished and rebuilt on the same site.

The current tenant is interested in undertaking complete reconstruction at their cost, in return for a long term lease and support for a new business model, which includes an amended liquor licence and limited evening functions/dinner services. Council is seeking your feedback on this proposal before making a decision.

The new footprint of the building will not encroach on open space but is proposed to take up some of the staff car parking spaces at the rear of the building. Accessible car spaces and access for deliveries will be retained.

The current tenant’s proposal also includes new public toilets and a fully accessible toilet.

If the decision is made not to introduce evening trade and amend the liquor licence, Council will need to fund essential building upgrades and may negotiate a smaller investment from the current tenant.
